Tangible Personal Property
Gifts of tangible personal property, such as artwork, jewelry, or collectibles, provide a unique and meaningful way to support the Catholic Legacy Foundation of Acadiana. These gifts are carefully reviewed to ensure alignment with the Foundation’s mission and values, as well as their potential to continue the Mission of Christ. Together, we can turn your valued items into a gift that reflects your faith and generosity.
Acceptance Criteria
All gifts of tangible personal property are examined based on the following criteria. Final acceptance of these gifts is determined by the Finance Committee of the Foundation, ensuring every gift supports our mission to build a Christ-centered legacy.
- Marketability — The potential for the item to be sold or utilized effectively
- Restrictions — Limitations on the use, display, or sale of the property
- Carrying Costs — Associated expenses, such as storage, insurance, or maintenance
- Appropriateness — Appropriateness for acceptance by the Catholic Church consistent with USCCB guidelines
How it Works
- Appraisal — Donors are responsible for obtaining a qualified appraisal that complies with IRS regulations. Gifts of tangible personal property are credited at their appraised value upon receipt by the Foundation.
- Approval — The Foundation’s Finance Committee evaluates the gift based on the criteria above.
- Expenses — Any legal or administrative costs associated with approving and receiving the gift are paid from the proceeds upon liquidation.
